Mission and Philosophy

Recognizing that children's experience during their early years directly affect their quality of the lives, it is Foster Farm Children Care Centre's goal to meet the social, physical, intellectual and emotional needs of children.

To grow into responsive and responsible individuals, they first need to accept themselves as they are, regardless of developmental differences. Through support, assistance and direction, children come to understand their potential and to gain the knowledge necessary to deal with life's everyday experiences.

1 Supervisor, 4 Early Childhood Educations/Teachers, 1 Full-time Cook and 1 Part-time Housekeeper

Facilities

Foster Farm Child Care Centre occupies a signification portion of the ground level of the Foster Farm Apartment. Renovations were made to convert apartment units to playrooms on the north side of the building. An secure, outdoor play area is located behind the building and is made available to children.

Transportation

Foster Farm Child Care Centre does not provide any free transportation, however, it is accessible by public transportation.

Days and Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday, full-days, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Services for Children

The Centre provides both indoor and outdoor free play activities, as well as more structured learning period known as Circle or group time or meeting time. During this time, children are divided by age. However, throughout the rest of the day, the children play together freely. Educational field trips and special excursions are provided throughout the year.

Foster Farm Child Care Centre, first and foremost, wants children to have fund during their outdoor play - learning through their play and exploring the world around them. Foster Farm will give children opportunities to:

  • Develop their gross motor skills, through such activities as climbing, running, biking.
  • Develop their social skills, through co-operative games and sharing of equipment.
  • Enjoy fresh air and exercise on a daily basis, as weather permits.
  • Develop an appreciation of nature and their outdoor environment, and to observe the changes around them, such as the changing seasons

Services for Parents

The Centre aims to support and enhance the parenting role of families.
