Mission and Philosophy
The Purpose of Annavale Headstart Nursery School is to provide a half-day Nursery
School Program for up to 24 children each session, which will benefit the child,
the parent and the community. The growth and development of the whole child is
the primary aim. We plan each day's activities to make the most of your child's
interests, strengths and curiosity, so that they have fun while they learn. In
acknowledging and welcoming the multicultural community, this Headstart Program
supports the statement from the Ontario Ministry of Education on Multiculturalism
in Education:
"Every child, of whatever colour, race, religion, age,
or sex, has the right to be treated with respect and understanding."
This program supports this belief by following the three principles of Ontario's
official Multicultural Policy:
- Equality
- Freedom of access to community services
- The right to maintain one's cultural heritage
Target Population
For children ages 2 ½ to 5 years-old children of families that qualify
for subsidy.

educational experience by coming to the program with their child one 1/2 day per
month. Parents take part in the program as helpers, and we welcome their ideas

allow parents to socialize, learn about, discuss and give their input in various
topics relevant to their experience as parents, family life and their understanding
their child. These sessions take place on an informal workshop setting.
- Parents are encouraged to participate in family events and field trips
offered through Annavale Nursery School.
